- Any moment now, not now, but at any moment, something is going to take place. A minor certain something that will make everything fall to pieces and pieces to fall into place.
Together with a group of nine(!) dancers,
Eivind Seljeseth creates the performance Any Moment, which will premiere at Dansens hus in Oslo, on
September 4th, 2025.
The work is an ambitious choreographic investigation of interactions within and inbetween some basic choreographic principles like synchronization, causality and different layers of time. In this project, the dancers and their moving bodies are the heart of the work, without relying strongly on spatial, textual or conceptual formats. In this way, the project differs from Seljeseth's previous works, as a shift in his choreographic interests. With the moving bodies as the pivot point, the work can be seen as a metaphorical investigation of relationships between existential loneliness and fundamental recognition, between something shared and something personal, between being alone and being together. The performance moves between a kind of order and a kind of chaos, between individual antics and sudden unity. As in an abstract, somatic magic show.
Through a circular process of bodily translation from one language to another based on subjective observations, a detailed, vivid and precise movement material is created. The dancers Anton Skaaning Thomsen, Ian Ancheta, Ingrid Haakstad, Marie Ursin, Mathias Aas Stoltenberg, Oda Bjørholm, Orfee Schuijt, Putli Hellesen and Sebastian Biong all work in the independent arts field and are based in Oslo. Not only is this an impressively large group of dancers for a work outside of companies and institutions, but also a group with extensive, strong and varied artistic practices.
